Protect Coastal Biodiversity

Ireland is blessed with an extensive and varied coastline. Our coast holds some of the most important coastal habitats in the whole of the EU. Our Machair dunes and brackish lagoons are two examples of these internationally important habitats. As a Coastcare Group you can take action to protect, conserve and improve these areas.

Coastcare Groups have taken action through dune protection, implementation of signage and coastal education workshops. Currently, Cosatcare Groups in South & East Cork are undertaking a number of Biodiversity Workshops. This work is supported by South & East Cork Development (SECAD).
